What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are non-surgical, injectable treatments that use specialised formulas to restore lost volume, enhance contours, and reduce the appearance of lines. By targeting specific areas of the face, these fillers help create smoother, more youthful-looking skin and naturally improve your features.

Treatment Protocol

Consultation and Assessment

Begin with a thorough consultation with the patient. Discuss their goals, medical history, allergies, and any medications they are taking. Examine the treatment area to assess the skin’s condition, volume loss, and any specific concerns the client may have. Ensure the patient understands the procedure and potential risks.

Step 2

Informed Consent

Obtain informed consent from the client, ensuring they understand the procedure, potential side effects, and the expected outcomes. Address any questions or concerns they may have and have them sign a consent form.

Step 3

Preparing the Client

Prepare the client for the procedure by cleansing the treatment area with a suitable antiseptic solution. Apply a topical numbing cream if necessary to minimise discomfort during the injection and mark the injection points with a pencil.

Injection Technique

With the client comfortably positioned, use a 25g needle, administer the dermal filler. Ensure you use proper aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Inject the filler in the subcutaneous layer with a 60% angle to achieve the precise product placement.

Step 5

Massaging and Shaping

After injecting the filler, wipe any blood with a chilled sterile gauze and when the bleeding has stopped, gently massage and evenly distribute the filler, to make it look natural. Pay close attention to any lumps or irregularities, and smooth them out.

Step 6

Post-Treatment Care and Follow-Up

Provide post-treatment instructions to the client, such as avoiding excessive touching of the treated area and applying ice to reduce swelling.

FAQs

How long does Revolax SubQ typically last?

Revolax SubQ is known for its longevity, and results can last up to 12-14 months. However, results vary based on factors, such as a high metabolism. Lifestyle factors such as intense exercise and facial expression can also wear out the filler faster. Also the area around the mouth tends to not last as less than the cheeks and jaw.

Common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness, and product nodules at the injection site. These effects are usually normal and resolve within a week. Serious complications are rare but possible, this includes tissue necrosis, which is extremely rare and caused by an occlusion along the artery pathway. This is resolved if the filler is removed immediately.

Yes, they can be used in combination with Botox, Chemical Peels, PRP and Skin Booster treatments to achieve more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Our therapists are trained to create a customised treatment plan to address your specific needs and goals.

No, both these areas are high volume loss areas that require a minimum of 3ml contour package. Using 1ml is not going to do the job effectively and you will be disappointed with the result. Always wait until you have sufficient funds to give your therapist the option to inject the exact amount needed. You have to remember that in 4 weeks, at least 30% of the filler effect is lost when the product softens and blends into your skin structure.

Juvederm has been around for many years longer than Revolax, and is well known among consumers. Juverderm has a unique cross link formulation that gives a softer effect than most fillers and carries less risk of any product lumps and visibility afterwards. Revolax is more cross linked, thicker, and needs more blending, however it lasts much longer than Juvederm.

If it’s your first time, it may take a few days or weeks to get used to it, you should allow a couple of weeks for the product to soften, blend and sink into the skin structure. If after 4-6 weeks you really don’t like it, then you have the option to dissolve it. The filler will take a few days to dissolve fully and be passed out of the body through the lymphatic system. Removing any trace of the filler being there.
